Resilience starts before an outage

How to organise dependencies and prepare a payment continuity plan.

Map your dependencies

Record which components handle checkout, authorisation, settlements and payouts. Include providers, integrations and the people responsible for each stage.

Define your scenarios

Distinguish between a technical outage, restrictions on a particular method, a settlement problem and the end of a provider relationship. Each scenario may require a different response.

Verify the alternative

Having a second provider’s contact details does not mean you are ready. Check its acceptance scope, contract status, integration and method availability in your key markets.

Test the process

The plan should define the activation trigger, decision-maker, communication and return to normal operations. Testing should not expose real customers to uncontrolled transactions.

Keep the plan current

A change in market, product or volume may affect previous assumptions. Set a review cycle and document what has actually been verified.
